I am a loyal user to Lyft, but I must confess on my recent trips to Las Vegas, Uber has been cheaper. Uber has typically offered more drivers, quicker pickup times and cheaper prices for rides in Las Vegas.

This does not mean you should not use Lyft as your experience could be different during your trip to Las Vegas. There have been occasions where I have used Lyft in Vegas as well, but in recent trips I have found Uber to be the better app in the city.

Do You Need a Car in Las Vegas?

The good news is Las Vegas is a very walkable city, and there is no need for a car if you are staying on The Strip. If you are staying in Lake Las Vegas or want to experience some of the nearby parks, then you may want a rental car.

Even if you are staying in downtown Las Vegas, it is an affordable Uber or Lyft ride to get to The Strip. For most people, it is better to skip getting a car in Vegas. The Strip is very walkable, but it is also long.

There are times when the distance (and the heat) will prompt you to order an Uber or Lyft. The sidewalk layouts can also add time to your trip depending on your location. Overall, you will find the heart of the city to be very walkable.
