After attending three Premier League games in three days as an American traveler to London, England, here are some of my key takeaways about using StubHub versus buying tickets from the club directly.
- ✅ StubHub is generally safe for buying Premier League tickets as a U.S. traveler.
- ✅ I successfully attended 3 EPL games in 3 days, the majority of games using StubHub in England.
- ✅ Always verify mobile transfer options to avoid scams and ensure you get your tickets on time.
- ✅ Expect EPL ticket prices to often drop closer to match day and be okay buying just before event.
- ✅ Buying Premier League tickets from the team often requires club membership for purchases.
Despite what the internet told me about buying Premier League tickets online, I looked around from the front row of Emirates Stadium having done the impossible during a recent trip to London. The chants engulfed me as Arsenal took on Newcastle in a prime Sunday matchup, but none of this would have been possible if the horror reports on Reddit were true. Three Premier League soccer matches in three days is what I achieved by ignoring some of the negative Nellies on the internet. If you’re an American traveler (or even traveling from elsewhere) wondering how to safely buy Premier League tickets on StubHub for your England trip, here’s everything I learned.
The process to buying Premier League tickets on StubHub is a bit like reading the reviews for a blender or hotel. It often seems like people only post their worst experiences.

To be fair, there are plenty of Reddit users who advise against buying EPL tickets on StubHub. Yet, I have also had a few bad experience using StubHub for NBA and MLB games in the United States. All issues were easily resolved. The good far outweighs the bad, which is why I keep using StubHub, SeatGeek and other third-party ticketing apps.
One small note, you will need to use StubHub.ie for Premier league tickets instead of the StubHub.com website you use for American sports.
Let’s take a look at how to attend soccer matches in England as an American or a person from another country. Here’s what you need to know about buying Premier League tickets on StubHub for your upcoming England trip (without losing any sleep).
Is StubHub safe to buy Premier League tickets? The short answer is yes, and I’ve successfully used it on multiple trips to England for EPL matches that I would not otherwise have been able to attend. You can feel confident completing your purchase on StubHub for your next Premier League game, but I lay out all the details below on my experience.
Is StubHub Safe for Buying Premier League Tickets in England?
A quick search on Google will tell you that buying tickets on StubHub or another third-party app in England is illegal. This appears to be technically true, but StubHub is able to get around this by having an international website that does not appear to be based in England.

I also felt confident about not getting scammed on StubHub because if the EPL tickets did not work, the company would refund my money.
How to Use StubHub to Buy Premier League Tickets as an American Traveler
Buying Premier League tickets as an American traveler or person from another country is quite more complicated than what you are used to in the United States. If you want to buy a ticket to a random Bulls, Steelers or Braves game, there are no shortage of options in the States.
First, you can start with the team itself, which typically uses Ticketmaster. Sometimes it much cheaper to use ticket apps like StubHub. Some teams even partner with third-party ticketing websites.
For our trip to London, we found out that Chelsea required us to be members of the club before we could purchase tickets. We did become members, but since we did not have any loyalty points, the tickets for the match we were targeting had already sold out by the time our number was called on the pre-sale date.

Our only option was to buy Westview club tickets at Stamford Bridge. We did this, but it cost more than $1,300 for two tickets with the currency difference.
I still wanted to see more Premier League games during my trip, but I knew I couldn’t afford to spend this much money again.
Can You Trust StubHub for Premier League Matches? Here’s What Happened to Me
So, I was open to taking the “risk” of using StubHub or another website, even if I could get turned away at the door. Instead, I landed a club ticket for the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium between Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

The next day I purchased a last-minute Arsenal-Newcastle ticket hours before the game started. My heart was in my throat as I approached the ticket scanner, but both times the barcode worked with no issues.
How Much Do Premier League Tickets Cost on StubHub?
The cost of your ticket could range from a few dollars for smaller clubs to $1,000s of dollars for a marquee matchup. My tickets for two signature matches cost less than you might think.
The club ticket for the FA Cup final was about $250, while the front row seat at Emirates was a little more than $200. For the Arsenal match, I could have found even cheaper tickets just to get in. The value was too good to pass up to be this close to the pitch, so I paid a little bit more.
What to Watch for: Avoiding Common StubHub Ticket Scams in the UK
There are other websites you can use in London and elsewhere around England. I only used StubHub, so that’s the one that I can vouch for but I’ve heard there are other strong options despite all the chatter of it being “illegal.”

It also helped me that I’ve used StubHub in the United States, and, at times, I’ve had issues with StubHub. Every time they have refunded my money when there is a problem. I felt confident they would do the same if there was an issue with my tickets during my trip to the UK.
It is wise to look for tickets that can be transferred via mobile. This allows for just a few minutes to pass before getting an email to accept your new ticket transfer if you are purchasing on a match day.
How Much Do Premier League Tickets Cost on StubHub?
It is worth trying to see if you can buy tickets from the club of your choice. Often times it may be cheaper this way, but it can be challenging to get tickets if you have little to no points accumulated in the system.
If it is a last-minute purchase, StubHub can be a lot easier to buy your EPL game. Tickets for the Chelsea-Manchester United tickets were being sold for less than $100 by the club, but these were impossible for us as Americans to purchase with no points.

If your match is less in demand, then you may have a better chance to score tickets. StubHub offers a nice alternative to purchasing tickets to the EPL game of your choice without needing to be a member.
You will want to look at the rules for your section. I’d advise against wearing an opponent’s gear to a Premier League match, as there are usually designated sections for away fans.
TLDR: Feel Confident Buying Premier League Tickets on StubHub
Now that you know StubHub is safe to use for tourists and locals alike, feel confident completing your purchase. Chances are you will save hundreds of dollars on your next EPL match and finally make those Saturday mornings in the States come to life by watching your favorite club live in one of England’s iconic stadiums.
