After years of dreaming, I finally made attending a Premier League game (three matches in three days to be exact) a reality but found the process of getting EPL tickets as an American to be extremely confusing. Here is what I wish I knew before my Premier League road trip around London, England.

In less than 72 hours, I had the good fortune of seeing the following EPL teams play: Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Newcastle and Crystal Palace. Additionally, I saw a total of four Premier League (or EPL adjacent counting Wembley) stadiums as well as a bonus tour of Wimbledon.

The TLDR version is that after only landing expensive tickets through Chelsea, I was able to utilize StubHub for the final two games on my trip, saving hundreds of dollars in the process.

Here’s a look at my London trip to see six Premier League teams, four stadiums and three EPL matches in 72 hours.

Day 1: Buying Tickets for Chelsea vs. Manchester United at Stamford Bridge

As a Chelsea supporter, my biggest priority was seeing Chelsea play live at Stamford Bridge. In an effort of full transparency, buying tickets for Chelsea-Manchester United was my biggest mistake.

After reading so many horror stories on Reddit, I was extremely fearful of purchasing Premier League tickets on third-party websites like StubHub and LiveFootballTickets.com. Every EPL club has different policies for purchasing tickets directly from the team.

We found out that Chelsea (at least for my trip in 2025) required becoming a member of the club in order to buy tickets. The challenge is the tickets did not go on sale until weeks before our trip.

My wife set her alarm for the ticket release (which happened to be in the middle of the night with the time difference). Since we had no member points built up, we were not able to purchase tickets until several hours later.

By the time I was given the okay to purchase tickets, the only seats remaining were for kids or the elderly, neither of which applied to our group. There was one exception: Westview club seats.

A quick Google search on Westview tickets for Chelsea is full of scorn. We ended up purchasing these seats which set us back $691 dollars PER TICKET as Americans after the exchange rate.

Unlike many club seats for United States sporting events, these tickets did not come with food or drinks included. It did give us access to a swanky lounge with upgraded concession offerings overlooking London. As for the seats, the Westview section is high up on the sideline.

These are not great seats to see a Chelsea game, but Stamford Bridge only holds a little more than 40,000 people so all tickets offer a good view of the pitch.

All this to say, we overpaid for these tickets, and some Westview matches are half the price (even when purchased through Chelsea) given the demand for the match. If I had to do it over again, I would have purchased tickets through StubHub and grabbed amazing seats for the game at about $600 total.

It would have been much cheaper to purchase Westview seats through StubHub, and we could have also landed tickets in other sections.

Attending a Chelsea match was thrilling, but I wish I would have known StubHub can be a game changer when it comes to saving money.

Day 2: FA Cup Final Between Manchester City and Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium (Plus Tottenham Stadium Tour)

With attending a Chelsea game checked off my bucket list, I was playing with house money for the rest of the London trip. This allowed me to experiment with third-party ticketing apps like StubHub for EPL tickets.

I knew that if for some reason my tickets did not work at the gate, StubHub would refund my money as has happened before in the United States. One of the pros (and cons) of traveling to England during the Premier League season is that the schedule is fluid based on some of the ongoing tournaments.

As fate would have it, the FA Cup final was taking place between Crystal Palace and Man City at Wembley Stadium during our visit. Before boarding our flight to London, I noticed StubHub had a front-row seat in the club section for $250 Euros ($284 USD at the time of purchase) for the FA Cup final.

Please be advised that the Premier League tickets are purchased on a separate international website (Stubhub.ie) than the app fans typically use in the United States.

This ended up being by far the best value of any of the matches I attended. The club ticket earned me access to multiple lounges complete with pregame music as well as upgraded food and drink options. All drinks and food had to be paid for, but the lounges were beautiful.

As an aside, alcohol can only be consumed before the Premier League games and at halftime as wine, beer and spirits cannot be taken to your seat during the match. This is based on legislation from decades ago when fan violence in England was at its peak.

My seat was at midfield in the second level offering a perfect view of the game in a historic venue (though not the original Wembley that hosted Queen and all the famous bands). It didn’t hurt that Crystal Palace won the FA Cup for the first time in club history.

Riding the Tube to the match was worth the price of admission itself with fans of both teams chanting on the way to Wembley.

Tottenham was not in town during our trip, but I was able to tour the stadium for about $40 USD.

The tour did not disappoint as it provides an audio guide for your self-guided tour with access to the field, locker room, swanky club seats and even the NFL locker rooms that American teams use during games.

Day 3: Front Row Seats for Arsenal vs. Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium

Emirates Stadium

On my final day in England, there was still time for one more match. Similar to buying tickets in the United States, I noticed that prices steadily declined as the match time got closer.

Hours before the game started, it was slightly more expensive to buy a stellar seat than just purchasing the cheapest ticket. For $197 Euros ($222 USD), I landed a front row seat along the sideline at Emirates Stadium.

Just like at Wembley, my ticket purchased via StubHub scanned just fine at the gate. I did print out the actual ticket thanks to our hotel, but I am guessing my phone would have worked as well.

Prior to Tottenham opening its new stadium, Emirates was the crown jewel of EPL venues. Not only did I have an amazing view of the game, but the spicy chicken sandwich I crushed was surprisingly good as well. There are plenty of bars and restaurants outside Emirates if you want to get a local feel on gameday.

TLDR: 6 Premier League Teams, 4 EPL Stadiums and 3 Soccer Matches in 3 Days (While Saving Hundreds of Dollars)

This is how I saved hundreds of dollars attending three Premier League games in three days as a tourist.

You can save even more money by following my advice and being willing to sit in cheaper sections. There are always exceptions to the rule, but it is more than possible to attend EPL games as an American without being member.

Chances are your StubHub ticket will work just fine as well. Time to finally book that trip across the pond to create your own EPL roadtrip. With London checked off my list, something tells me a Manchester Premier League roadtrip is in order.

These were the Premier League teams I saw in London but don’t be afraid to get creative for your next England trip using these helpful tips. Go ahead and purchase confidently at StubHub to attend the EPL game of your dreams at a fraction of the cost.

Fortunately for my wallet, our next stop in Copenhagen did not offer any soccer matches during our trip.

⚽ Premier League Tickets FAQ for American Tourists Planning a Trip to England

How can I buy Premier League tickets as an American?
Most EPL clubs sell tickets on their own official websites, often requiring a paid membership. Some teams release tickets only a few weeks before the match, and member loyalty points may limit access. Third-party resale platforms like StubHub (via Stubhub.ie for UK events) are a popular option for tourists.

Is it safe to use StubHub or LiveFootballTickets.com?
While official club websites are always safest, StubHub is generally reliable and offers a refund guarantee if something goes wrong. The UK version (Stubhub.ie) is separate from the U.S. site, so make sure you’re using the correct one. While we have not used Live Football, London locals have vouched for it as a reliable option.

Can I attend Premier League games without being a member?
Yes, but it may be harder to get tickets to high-demand matches like Chelsea vs. Manchester United. Membership can help, but resale sites often have better availability and more flexible timing for purchase.

What’s the cheapest way to get EPL tickets as a tourist?
Prices often drop the closer you get to the match date—just like in the U.S. For example, tickets for Arsenal-Newcastle at Emirates dropped to ~$222 for front row seats a few hours before kickoff. Flexibility is key to saving money.

What are Westview tickets at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea)?
Westview tickets are club-level seats that offer access to a lounge with upgraded food and drinks (not included in the price). The view is decent, but the price tag is steep for what you get—especially when resale options may be cheaper. It does allow non-members to purchase tickets directly from Chelsea.

Do EPL club tickets include food or drinks?
Most tickets—even club level—do not include food or drinks. Lounges often have premium concessions, but most seats are pay-as-you-go. Be sure to read the club’s official guidance for you tickets as a select few offer all-you-can-eat seating options.

Can you drink alcohol in your seat during EPL matches?
No. Due to decades-old legislation, alcohol can only be consumed in the lounge or concourse before the match and at halftime. You cannot take alcohol to your seat.

Are paper tickets required or can I use my phone?
Most stadiums accept mobile tickets, but having a printed backup is a good idea—especially for international travelers using third-party sites. Many hotels in London will print tickets for free or a small fee.

Can you attend multiple EPL matches in a weekend?
Yes! The London area is packed with clubs. The user attended 3 matches and toured 4 stadiums in 3 days—proving it’s very doable. Planning ahead, using the Tube, and staying flexible with clubs and ticket types can help you make it happen.

Is Wembley worth attending for a non-EPL event like the FA Cup?
Absolutely. Wembley Stadium is iconic, and events like the FA Cup Final can offer an incredible atmosphere.

Any other stadium tours worth doing?
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium offers a great $40 USD tour with access to the locker rooms, pitch, club areas, and even the NFL facilities. It’s well worth doing even if there’s no match during your trip.

What’s the best way to attend multiple Premier League games in a single trip?
Plan around geography and fixture scheduling. Midweek matches (Tuesday/Wednesday) combined with weekend games (Saturday/Sunday) give you flexibility to see two or three games. Cities like London and Manchester offer multiple clubs within close proximity.

Are Premier League stadiums easy to get to without a car?
Yes. Most stadiums are easily accessible via public transportation (Tube, train, or bus). London clubs in particular are connected by the Underground. Apps like Citymapper or Google Maps work great in the UK.

Is it safe to wear opposing team gear as a tourist?
Use caution. Wearing neutral clothing is advised unless you’re seated in the designated away section. Some stadiums have strict rules against away colors outside the away allocation. We witnessed a Manchester United fan get booted during a Chelsea game.

What are some underrated clubs where it’s easier to get tickets?
Clubs like Fulham, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Brighton, or Wolves typically have more accessible ticketing options for general sale — and offer great matchday atmospheres with fewer restrictions.

Can I bring a bag into a Premier League stadium?
Most clubs have strict bag policies. Small bags are allowed, but anything larger than an A4 sheet (approx. 8.3″ x 11.7″) will usually not be permitted. Check the club’s stadium policy beforehand.

What’s the atmosphere like for a Premier League match as a tourist?
Incredible. English fans are passionate but generally welcoming — especially if you show respect for local traditions and etiquette. Join in on the chants or just soak up the experience.
