The sign of a good golf course is dreading the 18th hole coming as it means the round is nearing an end. A stay at The Edgewater Hotel in Seattle is similar as your time in Seattle nears completion, wishing you could read in the iconic lobby forever.
From Pearl Jam to The Beatles, the stories at the Edgewater are countless as the hotel has been a hotbed for Seattle’s music scene. Count the late Anthony Bourdain among one of the hotel’s biggest fans as well.

We make small talk with some of the staff members about the history of The Edgewater as we check out.
“Did Anthony Bourdain shoot one of his final episodes at The Edgewater?” I ask.
“Tony loved The Edgewater. It was his favorite hotel in Seattle.”
“What about the Pearl Jam stories… and The Beatles?”
The Edgewater Hotel in Seattle Has Earned Approval From Anthony Bourdain, The Beatles and Pearl Jam Among Other Celebs
A few minutes later, we find ourselves touring the secret suites that hold both history and mystery. Edgewater guests can book The Beatles room or Pearl Jam suite as available (the premium experience does come with a premium price tag but worth it for music fans).
Each room is unique, featuring photos and memorabilia related to the band. The Pearl Jam room features framed setlists, a guitar. and record player. Additionally, The Beatles room includes iconic photos as well as an amazing view of the Sound, plus the history of the band staying at The Edgewater.

We haven’t even gotten to the hotel itself, which stands on its own merit, even if there were no such history. Guests are greeted with a giant fireplace outside only to be met with several more fireplaces inside the lobby.
It is a bit like a nesting doll of fireplaces, something you didn’t know you needed until you arrive. It is difficult to complain about Seattle’s gloomy weather when sitting next to one of these fires.

The majority of the rooms are also equipped with an electric fireplace as well. It would be hard to find a more iconic lobby than The Edgewater hovering over the water. You don’t just have a view of the Sound, you’re hovering above it.
With open seating and fireplaces on both sides of the lobby, it makes the perfect place to read or grab a drink, especially during one of those infamous grey Pacific Northwest days.

Many locals come just to enjoy the space at the bar or restaurant. It would not be a Seattle hotel without a coffee shop inside the lobby as well.
Located in Belltown, you are just a short walk to Pike Place Market (and yes, the first Starbucks). Hopefully, your trip to Seattle includes much more than throwing a slimy salmon, but you do you. Walk to the Olympic Sculpture Park or one of the nearby Belltown coffee shops and restaurants.
We chose to walk to the ferry terminal and hop on one of the boat rides to explore. This offers great views of the Seattle skyline while also getting to explore some of the neighborhoods outside the city. The Edgewater is also next to the Victoria Clipper terminal, a three-hour ferry ride that takes you into Victoria, Canada.

As for the rooms, your two options are a view facing the Seattle skyline or a water view for more money. Each room has the feel of a cabin, making the hotel unique without feeling like you are staying at a big box chain hotel.
Edgewater Hotel in Seattle Is Perfect Homebase for a Seahawks, Mariners or Sounders Game
Pioneer Square is the area most known for the city’s sports scene with some hotel offerings in addition to the lion’s share of Seattle’s staying options located in downtown. Belltown is just a short walk into downtown, and The Edgewater is worth the extra steps.Â
If you are looking for a hotel while you are in town for a Seahawks, Sounders or Mariners game, The Edgewater is a perfect option. Add a little elegance to your pregame tailgate with a view of the Sound before heading to Lumen Field or T-Mobile Park.

The Edgewater is located less than two miles from the stadiums and ambitious fans can head to the game on foot. There is also the option to take the bus, Uber or Lyft into Pioneer Square
Stay at the Same Suite Where The Beatles Made History at The Edgewater
There is a famous photo of The Beatles fishing, which turns out to have been taken at The Edgewater in Seattle. Here is how the hotel describes the iconic band’s stay during their 1964 tour.
“In 1964, at the height of Beatlemania, few hotels would host the Fab 4,” The Edgewater’s website details. “During their world tour, however, The Edgewater welcomed them. An ambulance was used to transport the band to the hotel to keep the fans at bay, and the hotel had to install special fencing around the property.

“Some fans even tried to swim across Elliott Bay to get to the band. It was during this stay that this famous picture of the band fishing out of their window at the hotel was captured.”

Fans of the band can relive the memories by staying in The Beatles suite, the same room where the iconic photo was taken. In addition to amazing water views, the 750-square foot suite features photos of the band, a leather couch, wood ceiling and desk overlooking the Sound. There is also the sound of The Beatles music that can be played via the room’s sound system along with the band’s catalog of albums.

Staying at The Beatles suite is a splurge as the nightly price can top $1,000 depending on when you stay, but it is not every day you can be part of history. Like many of the other Edgewater rooms, The Beatles suite also comes with a fireplace.
The Edgewater Is Also Pearl Jam Approved

If grunge music is more your style, there is also the option of staying at the Pearl Jam suite. This is the perfect gift for the Pearl Jam fan in your life (or treat yo’ self). The 750-square foot room includes original posters, rare Pearl Jam records along with a vinyl record player and even a guitar along with an amp to pretend you are Eddie Vedder.

Need some fresh air? Step out on the balcony overlooking the water. Veder has a strong relationship with The Edgewater which shows in all the little touches throughout the room.
Fans can check out the set lists from past shows hanging on the walls. The black walls along with the skull and cross bones might deter the casuals from the room, but the design is sure to strike a cord for others.

Even if The Edgewater did not boast its musical history, the hotel would be worth every penny if only for the cabin-style rooms combined with the gorgeous lobby. Then there is the bar and restaurant as well as the rooms with fireplaces and either a view of the city or water.

But it doesn’t hurt that The Edgewater DOES have history and is approved by celebrities. The musicians who have stayed at The Edgewater include Macklemore, Def Leppard, Kurt Cobain and REM. Additionally, Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, The Monkees, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Neil Young among others have temporarily called The Edgewater home as well.
There are no shortage of hotels to stay at in Seattle, but I’d strongly co-sign a weekend (don’t let me stop you, do your thing on a weekday as well) at The Edgewater. My wife and I loved it so much we booked another stay a few months later.
“I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me,” to quote Pearl Jam.
