Not everyone can attend Wimbledon during the tournament, but the venue offers regular tours, including access to the tennis museum. I was surprised to see Wimbledon absent from many London guides highlighting the best things to do for your upcoming England trip.

There is a reason why the Wimbledon tour receives so many positive review on Trip Advisor and Reddit alike. The Wimbledon tour is an amazing experience and well worth the price of admission, even for non-tennis fans.

Here’s everything you need to know before you go to tour Wimbledon.

Wimbledon Tour Ticket Prices & Tour Length- What I Wish I Knew Before Booking

The ticket cost for the Wimbledon tour along with museum is about $40, depending on the exchange rate when you go (right now the official Wimbledon site lists the price at £32.00). You can expect the tour to last about 90 minutes but the time goes by fast.

Selfie time at Center Court during the Wimbledon tour.

It feels like a full tour of the grounds getting to see courts with just a few rows of seats and yes, the iconic center court. There are plenty of selfie opportunities in front of the historic venue, and our tour guide even offered to take a few photos for my wife and I during the tour.

The tour includes a historic overview of Wimbledon and offers perspective of what it is like during the week of the tournament. We learned small insider tidbits like the fresh strawberries are delivered from a nearby farm which is why the dish is so in demand for patrons.

There were also little nuggets about tricks to purchasing tickets for Wimbledon. On the tour, fans visit multiple courts as well as the media room where players conduct interviews. Additionally, you get a live look at the famous hill where fans watch the action on the big screen.

There are opportunities to use the restroom on the tour, but you would be wise to use the bathroom at the museum before it starts.

Wimbledon Tour Final Verdict: Should You Include on Your London Itinerary

So, the question you are probably asking is whether Wimbledon is a must-visit during your London trip. The answer depends on your trip goals while in England, but we prioritized visiting Wimbledon, even though we were only in London for three days.

It is an easy commute from the center of London. It took about 45 minutes on the Tube to get to the town and there is a bus that runs directly to the venue after the Tube stop. It is a lot less complicated than it looks on Google Maps.

An added bonus is that you get to see the town of Wimbledon with cool bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants and bars near the courts. The trip allows you to visit a cozy neighborhood outside London that you may not have seen if not for the tour.

As for the food after the tour, I oped to skip the touristy restaurant but my wife enjoyed her “toastie” sandwich. Taking the tour also allows you to buy merchandise from the Wimbledon store which offered hats, shirts, towels, coffee mugs, notebooks and everything in between.

Personally, I opted for the dad-style Wimbledon quarter-zip for about $90, but there are plenty of less expensive souvenirs.

Overall, visiting Wimbledon and taking the tour gets a 10 our of 10 when it comes to planning your London trip, especially for sports fans.
